Question live plants in WD viv

I want to actually plant some live plants in my Water Dragon's custom built viv but I am worried about two things, first since she loves to dig can she get sick from the potting soil and/or kill the plants? Second is it safe to use live plants with a Water Dragon or is she likely to end up destroying them? I already know it is too hot and humid for the Coleus I wanted to plant in there but the Hosta and the small tree like plant I have in there are doing fine. So, how do I get the plants to actually look natural and remove the big ugly pots so they don't ruin the rainforest look I am going for? Any tips or advice?
