Hi all, just looking for some advice
im running a 6x11 heat mat on a habistat mat stat in a viv just over 4 foot, the thermometer on the inside of the viv at the warm end is reading 72-73, i realised its a fari way from the floor, so may give a false reading compared to the floor, but i think this is way too cool for the warm end (corn snakes) Is the heat mat just too small? im running it off a multigang with nothing else plugged in. would it be worth while converting to a ceramic or a heatbulb of some sort? or do people heat a 4ft+ viv on a mat? ![]() |

yeh but for a 4 foot viv id use soemthing like a 29x11 mat minumum.
is it for your leos mate? if the temps are only getttin to what you said theres a good chance the stat isnt kicking in which could mean the surface fo the mat itself gets dangerously high.

nah its for my corns, the lizards are the g/f. That would mean the matt was covering more than half the viv i only thought it was meant to be a third, the surface of the matt isnt that hot, warm to the touch not burning i just dont think the matts kicking out enough pwer to heat it.

I wouldnt use a mat for that viv , if i were you i would spend more money, and get cermaics, ye sit willc sot quite a bit more with guards, thermosta,t fittings, bulb etc. but it will heat it better.
