Default Putting Together My Viv

i am building my own viv and have got melamime, sort of laminated chipboard,

was wondering hw u guys put urs together if u used this wood
as i was thinking screws but will it split the chipborad
so then i thought dowels and glue ??

Dowel and glue i think is used quitea lot you can use screws you just have to be very careful! Cant wait to built my own vivs! Will be expecting step by step pictures from you!

ye i have the pieces cut so will take piks of that and each step along the way

it is goin to be a double viv

a 6' x 2' x 2' on bottom and a 6' x 18" x 2' on top
cant wait

I use screws... Trick is to drill a small hole where the screw will sink into. This way you remove some wood first off and it doesn't split

for mine i screw the bottom on after drilling a pilot hole (as already said) and for the top i use dowels and glue just cos i dont like seeing the screw heads
anything you can see gets dowles and anything you cant gets screws
looks a lot better in my opinion

so if i drill small holes into the chipboard then screw into them it wont chip
the dowel the top sounds good to me guys, thanks for the advise.

oh btw where can i get 6ft runners

drill a hole through the bottom and in to the side and you should be ok
i get my runners from b&q they do the six foot ones in my local
if gona dowel the top b&q sell dowel marking kits its a drill bit with a depth stop and a set of locator pins cant go wrong

best place i think for runners is your local glaziers.. my B&Q don't do them, and when they have them in they are 3ft and white ! I like black and kinda need 6ft ones...
