Not sure if I understand the question...
My new pro rack for example, I have the heat mats horizontally under each tub. My hatchling rack, I have 2 heat strips that go down the entire back of the stack. But for viv stacks, well I just wire up a heat mat in each viv the same as I would regardless of whether it's a stack or not. |

ok im getting 3 vivs they are all the same length and the same size (the ones rep shops use) they will be stacked on top of each other, so in theory 2 of the vivs will have 2 heat mats one on the bottom and one on the top. So how do i sort the heating out? will i have to use radiators instead and if not where would the best place be to position the heat mats.
Sorry if im not making any sense in dosed up lol |

Well we have 50 vivs in the shop and every one has a heat mat in it, on the hot side, just the same as if the vivs were individual. You can then connect a few heat mats to a thermostat or have one for each viv, depends if the temperatures in them are going to be the same or not.
I would only recommend a radiator if we were talking 5-6 foot + vivs. You put the heat mat in the same place you do on any viv, on the hot side. The fact that the vivs will be stacked means a small amount of ambient temperature may go upwards - but remember heat rises, therefore the fact that the vivs are stacked does not mean the one underneath it will have a heat mat on the ceiling, because the heat will go up, not down, and also the wood is quite thick usually.. so it is not the same as having 2 heat mats. As long as the heat mats are connected to a thermostat they will turn off when it gets too hot anyway ![]() |
