Default Coco mat

Would this stuff be ok as a safe substrate for geckos as alternative to paper towels etc?

hi,

i think its more for amphibs?? it produces high levels of humidity so for leos it would be no good!

it may be good as a bedding in a moist hide though??

its going to be difficult to clean their poop off that effectively if it sinks in..

I use forest bedding stuff for my cresties which i pat down with a flat piece of wood so its compacted.. this means if they poop i can lift it away with some of the substrate easily... I use this in both my males tank and my male/females

the only one that doesnt have it yet is the young one shes stil on paper towels

It's quite a solid mat, coconut fibres bound together with liquid latex basically, you do get a few loose bits but it's easy to remove those, after that it doesn't shed any more.
My dartfrog viv is lined with it and it's permanently soaked by a trickle system, plants love it and will root into it and climb the walls, I'm not sure it's the sort of thing you'd want to use as a substrate though, it's very absorbent so might create high humidity, and it would be hard to clean.

Thanks. Need humidity for a crested gecko, but the cleaning would be a problem.
