2 years and only 3 inch leg span ? are you sure you have there age correct since pokies are a very fast growing spider reaching maturaty in less than 12 months fasciata that i have raised and bred have all matured in 1 year males and females some females can bred bred at 10 months old , only certain pokies take longer to mature like p metallica males can take over 2 years to mature females 1 year some time p miranda can take a little longer but its mainly the 4 that go a extra nymph stage there is only pokies that do this , metallica , formosa , miranda , tigrinawesseli

My Female P.ornata is 2 years old and only 4 inch leg span - potentially 8 inch plus LS when mature size , the females can take over 2 years to reach maturity - all depending on the heat and feeding conditions. But I agrre that Poecilitheria are amongst the fastes metabolisms of species within the hobby.

Well I got them 2 years ago and at the time they were 1cm. I am surprised at how slow they are growing tbh as I have a trio of P ornata and they have tripled the size of the P fasciata and only had them less than a year. I don't power feed any of my spiders but at the same time all my spiders get fed same amount and at same time. Actually tempted to keep them now and record how often the moult and length of time to mature as it seems really weird. Having said that the P ornata are in a tank that sits on both snake tanks which are both got added heat mat so maybe the extra heat is increasing growth.
