if you want a captive bred ootheca it will be near impossible/VERY expensive. however i think if you know the right people you could get some wild caught ones imported without as much trouble/money. one or two years ago alot of people were getting idolomantis oothecae imported, but they would often hatch out parasitic wasps or were duds for example (such is the risk with wild caught oothecae).

if money is no issue, your best bet for an ootheca is to contact some of the german breeders who seem to be the only people with repeated success in breeding idolomantis. although i doubt even they will sell you oothecae, but rather young nymphs.

you have to think, when first instar nymphs of this species have a guaranteed market with good prices, and oothecae of this species can hatch 60 or more that you could sell with ease, why would you even want to sell the oothecae? it just doesn't make sense unless you know it is a dud, or you are asking astronomic (but justified) prices for it.

Thanks, everything you've said is absolutely right. I personally know some of people in this breeding group- some German, and Swiss the other.

Anybody has Wild caught or source to get some?

By the way, shipping ooth or nymphs to Taiwan could be a great risk, as many would die during transportaion. It's almost an uderstanding that the buyer will have to take the risk!
