We have strikes here tomorrow (Thursday 5th) as well. It's a good point to remember that during strikes, RMSD is not guaranteed next day, but the person in the post office should tell you that if you were to try and send something.

Yes special delivery is still guarenteed, you get compensation if they don't deliver that in time.

Our delivery postman told me last week it was the only "post" to use to guarantee delivery if something was urgent! Having said that, they announced on the news that the backlog had diminished considerably, just in time for the next strike.

I've been told numerous times in my Post Office that RMSD isn't guaranteed during strikes. Cos sometimes it's not physically possible to get it there next day, when the posties are not working!

Be safe, don't send stuff until the backlog's clear. People will be happy to wait cos we wouldn't want impatience to kill a critter. If they're not happy to wait, tough (my stance anyway!)

I think it depends on which workers are striking, if it's the posties then managers are trying to deliver all the RMSD packages but if it's the collection drivers then it won't leave the PO

I've recieved and sen a few things RMSD since the strikes and have been told as long as they are collected they will be delivered next day but they aren't guaranteeing the times, ie before 9am and before 1pm

Default Postal strike

what a lot of people dont know is that the strikes so far have been by different departments of different days but im told Friday and Monday are all departments at the same time.
All im concerned about are the creatures that are to be posted getting to their destination alive.
Anyone posting should have this as their priority, the fact that Royal Mail will give you your money back should be the last thing on your mind (and try and get your money back, its a nightmare, trust me !)
Leave them until Tuesday, better safe than sorry.
I'll get down off my soap box now
