Default female beardie wanted for my son

hello am a newbie here we got our son a beautiful beardie for christmas as he is allergic to furry animals he never asked for it but knew he would love it, his mates did`nt believe he owned a dragon! (must admit im hooked on them already they are fascinating) now he`s concerned how lonely it looks and wants to find a companion not sure how old he is but certain hes a male as he has the two bulges at end of his tail he measures 12.5" looking for a female approximately the same size and age we are near liverpool and can collect locally he has a low budjet (communion money) but am willing to help him out a bit
p.s. this site is a godsend

Hi just a bit of advice but its not wise to keep a young female with your male as they could breed to early also beardies are happy to live alone...so i would leave it at just him unless you are able to give the female her own setup untill old enough to breed

Yeah pet shops do tend to co-habit animals but this is because if they was to house every animal seperate they would need a warehouse for the vivs so they co-habit and if the shops a good one they dont tend to spend long together anyway so its not makin a big impact so to speak.. But sep housin is advised until big enough to reduce the risk of early breeding

Sorry I agree too I was going to post but you guys have covered what I wanted to say, a beardie won't be lonely if your son gives him extra cuddles

Defo no need for a friend. As long as he's well looked after, he'll be happy enough. Best thing is to wait before you buy him a mate - just in case they breed too early, and the female isn't old enough. If you still think he needs a mate in 12 months -
buy an 18 month + girlfriend for him then!!!
