Hi!
I was wondering how are u finding looking after your desert iggy?

I've been looking in to getting one, but there are a few finer tips and importent details i want to double check and clarify. Because of tempreture variation with dawn midday evening, do you change the tempreture, and to what? A desert iggy's body temp should be 45 c, so i belive 40-50 would be the right tempretures?

You can feed a desert iggy once a day but the primary diet of Creset (can't spell right now lol) must be home grown but there are alternatives. Lettice should be avoided because of no nuitrient but good to help hydrate still stere away. Spring greens, Green beans, carrots, apple, Squash, Parsely, spinach are just some of the foods you can give for a varied diet. But how much? I dont want a fat or mal- nu iggy. I'm guessing a small bowl of about 4 cm across full?

Also a calcium spray should be used, But how often?

How do you handle an iggy? don't want to frighten him so he drops his tail or is stressed. Is there any special holding technique? Should i first haddle him in an eclosed space like a bathroom just in case he jumps off me?

Thanks for your time

A nervous Iggy owner to be.

If you have your lights on a timer - then the viv slowly builds up temperatures in the morning. I also have a small heat meat at the 'hot' end

what primary diet? mine thrive of mixed salad leaves (not iceberg) other greens and dandylions with the odd bits of grape, carrot (which they don't usually like) and whatever else is around. I have also bought seeds for lizards and some ceasote seeds to grow for them. - you will quickly learn how much.

you start handling him in the viv - pick him up stroke him and put him down - when you feel confident enough then make sure you are sitting on the floor - these guys can move fast and i suspect will break pretty easily. the ylove dandylion flowers so much they will often hand feed very quickly.
