Default Various S.E Asian Monitors in the wild

Heres a few of the different monitor species that we have spotted out in S.E Asia.

First up, the Asian water monitor. This is an extremely common species and can be found literally everywhere, including right in the middle of major cities like Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu.

These particular monitors were on Sapi Island, just of the coast of Kota Kinabalu in Borneo. There were loads to be seen and they were very active. In the photo below, the larger monitor at the back was chasing the little guy out of 'his' pond.

They were everywhere on the island, it one small pool we counted 22. Heres a shot where six can be seen looking for food.

Next up, a small Bengal Monitor caught on Langkawi Island in Malaysia. This little guy ran into a hole in a tree which enabled me to get hold of him to take a few shots. He was suprisingly calm.

And finally, one of my most enjoyable adventures in Asia was heading over to Komodo island late last year. Heres a couple of the adult dragons we came across, we saw about 15-20 in all over three days. Nothing beats seeing these animals out in the wild.

Fantastic, What an amazing holiday that would of been. Did you go to any deals, purely for wildlife, or was it just a standard holiday?

This was independant travelling to find and photograph as many reptiles species as possible. On the trip when we went to komodo we were out for 2 months, on the trip with the 2 other species were out for 3 months.
