Hey dude, just looked at your pics again.
if that is the thermostat probe pinned to the left hand wall behind the light... then that may be the cause of the dimmer going right off...as that will get coem of the heat waves directly from the basking bulb area so could heat up a litle quicker and be unable to keep the dimm going without getting over temp and shutting right off. if that probe was near the cool end about 8-9 inches from the other wall it will more accurately measure the cool end temp and only tell the dimmer to dimm when the cool end is approaching the desired temp [of say..85 degrees] and you should find the basking bulb remaining on a little more at full heat and light [which is beneficial] and being able to dimm without actually going off nearly as often. worth a try and may bring out some extra not so often seen pretty colours in the beardies themselves.
