Yep, I had a great time. I had 144 to feed in the morning (mostly hatchlings plus 30ish adults) and then in the afternoon we collected leaves, flowers and fruit from around the island for them to eat. The last day I was there I helped out with the vet checks on the hatchlings that were due to be released and also spent a few evenings following the free roaming adults to see where they were holing up for the night.

Higlights included the heartstopping moment when one of the hatchlings jumped on my shoulder, ran down my back and disappeared into long grass (fun phone call to the programme director 'um, I've just lost one of the world's most endagered lizards....) luckily it just hung around munching on leaves and was easily recaptured, BIG phew! Also having one of the hathlings bite my finger and refure to let go when I was taking it over to the vet to be checked, but best was feeding Forrest one of the big adult males who loved to play hide and seek in his enclosure, letting you walk past before rushing towards you - luckily he was more interested in mango and noni fruit then me

sounds great! working with reptiles is so rewarding, especially if its a species youve never worked with before!

I have a real soft spot for Igs and the Blues are the most beautiful. It must have been fantastic to be part of such an important programme.
Do you keep Iguanas yourself? is that why you chose to volunteer?
It is certainly something I would consider, but I would assume the expenses
involved would be quite hefty.
