Lol

His tail doesn't normally stick out. He just started to bury himself and his tail was sticking out. Give it another five minutes and you wouldn't find him with out brushing the sand! Does make me laugh though, cause they sort of bury themselves leaving their tails sticking out, (sure they think you can't see them cause they can't see you) and then they fully bury themselves a few secs/mins later.
