Smile High Quality Pictures Needed: Mistreated/Injured Reptiles

Hi everyone,

I'm a 1st year Graphic Design student studying at Loughborough University. I have just received a brief requesting me to 'SHOUT' the message of something i feel strongly about. I have decided to do down the route of making sure people know what they are letting them-selfs in for
before they purchase and incorrectly look after a reptile.

Basically, what i am in need of are high-quality images of mistreated or injured reptiles (Lizards or snakes) to help me to create a poster that would used in pet shops that would cause people to stop and pay attention.

If the pictures are too large for uploading or you would find it easier, feel free to add me on MSN or to email the pictures to Spyro_uk@hotmail.com

Thank you in advance
/Mike

wouldn't that inflame people?... make them want to ban keeping herps entirely?.... fodder for the anti-herp folks?

I think he's trying to make new people to the hobby stop & think before they go ahead & purchase a reptile with incorrect setup...

I think its a good idea but is a catch 22, In one hand it will highlight to new owners what can go wrong etc, but as Habu said, it just fuels the fire for anti's to say "this is what happens to to reps"

I dont think you will find many shops wanting to put up a poster in their stores of a badly injured rep, that's like having a picture of a Ferrari wrapped around a tree and saying this is what can happen if you speed, put in the Ferrari garages.

HABU, i'm hoping from the rough ideas i had it wouldn't inflame people, more make them think twice about it before just having a spontaneous idea to just go and buy a snake/lizard, read up about it first as the poster will have a lot of information, making it more of a hobby that needs time as appose to just having it because you wanted one one day.

stephenie191, sorry for any mis-understanding, i am a reptile keeper myself and i would find it a little incensative to say something along the lines of that on a forum like this.

Matty, thats the exact message i am trying to portray as it angers me to see people i know with the blatant wrong attitude towards actually wanting to care for a reptile.

Talltom, it wouldn't actually be put in a petshop, but that is the kind of place i was thinking about designing for, i received the project today and i'm still trying to brainstorm ideas and potential places for this to be shown.

shall we keep this on topic? Spyro isnt asking for your opinions of his project, he is asking for photos. The project will go ahead regardless of your thoughts, so if you dont have any of the said photo's, im not sure what you can contribute. Why do people live their life in fear of the 'Anti's'?

Matty, thats exactly it!

i think it sounds like a good idea, maybe something more for pet/reptile shop owners/staff, to encourage them not to just sell any animal to any muppet walking into the shop, which seems to happen all too regularly! and i don't think putting some people off reptile keeping is a bad thing; if someone thinking of buying a reptile is so easily 'put off', it seems likley they won't really have the commitment to care for the animal over the course of its lifetime.
