I recently was given a Marbled Gecko by my aunt, who doesn't have the time for her anymore. She's currently on Calci-Sand, but I have now heard some bad things about it. She's not climbing the walls. Not that she doesn't want to, because she tries, but just falls back down again. I was wondering if perhaps the dust from the sand has stopped her being able to climb?! Any suggestions?!

Hi, Although I am still a relative beginner myself, I have five marbled geckos. The sand is not a good idea because it can cause impaction. Also marbles geckos are arboreal so they wouldnt normally be near sand so is not natural for them, I have mine on tile. Hope that helps

Maybe some slanted logs or pieces of cork bark - so that they are at an angle at which she can climb without needing grip.
maybe not that high up. Thats what I do for the arboreal spiders when they can't climb. LMS |

I know sometimes if they get bits of old shed skin stuck on toes it can hinder climbing etc. Have a look at her feet maybe by looking at her thriough glass or see threw tub and see if they look clear or rough looking with old shed skin.
If it is old shed skin just put her in a moist box for a while and hopefully will help to rid it - if not u can gently pull it off with tweezers once moistened |

or add a moist hide. If you haven't got a hide in there you could put her in say a cricket tub with warm wet kitchen roll for about 10 - 15 mins to moisten skin but put the box just inside her viv to keep her warm still an this will help keep humidity up in box. Hope this sorts her out

Well, I got the dry skin off of her feet, and she does seem more lively, although she still isn't climbing. Don't really know what else to do... Have put slanted logs, a moist hidey in there for her, so I guess its just a matter of waiting to see if she perks up now? Thanks for all your help so far guys. Really appreciate it. <3
