All that sounded pretty good, if your confident enough to put your hands anywhere near the things
I'm not so I bought a Kricket keeper. Excelent piece of equipment and I'm getting my confidence up too I can now put my hand in the tank to retreive the feeder bowls.
Would recommend to anyone with any type of fobia/fear towards kreeper crawleys.

I've been doing this:

Bugs come in the post. I fire them into the fridge for 10 minutes so they won't jump all over me. When they are chillin' like Matt Dillon on penicillin, I empty them into the Cricket Keeper which you can buy from reptile shops. It's a plastic tank which has little tubes for catching the bugs in. When I want some bugs for my herp, I get some bugs in the tube and then remove the tube (covering the end with some cardboard) so I don't have to touch them.

I then empty the bugs from the tube and into a big yoghurt pot (big Onken ones). This Yoghurt tub already has the calcium stuff in it. I give it a good shake then put it in the fridge to chill the bugs (10 minutes). When time is up, I give it another shake and feed them to the monster. They just fall right out because they are so chilled and they are nice and healthy for the herp.

So, tub to keeper. Keeper to yoghurt pot. Yoghurt pot to viv. No contact with nasty bugs!

I did something very similar but still hated the by things so I changed them to locusts which I don't mind handling at all, please bear in mind I absolutely hate anything that crawls, my hubby laughs cos he sez I can handle locusts but run a mile when I spot a spider . What can I tell you...but crix..........YUCK

Look on the spider shops web page, they sell a cricket keeper, you could use this and never have to touch the crickets, there are tubes in the crix keeper you just pull out and feed them to your pet by tapping the end of this tube and crix come out, just an idea.

Ugh - there's definitely something about crickets - I can't stand them. Fortunately neither can any of my lizards - so we tend to go for locusts I don't mind handling any size of them.
