Default Thermostat & heat help - 1st time bd owner

Hi

Sorry its a long one..but i know you need all the facts

Im not sure about my setup re light/heat & i am now worrying myself a lot. ive had lots of advice off someone from here and it ties in with what i have read from here, but i just wanted further opinions.

Viv set up BEFORE i got Ollie;

I had help & advice on the heat/light setup from Ameyzoo.

4 x 12 x 17 (2nd hand, cleaned & resealed) good ventilation all the way along the top.

60W basking bulb, check the temp on the basking rock = 100F & then put the therm on the wall, i know 90F on the wall is 100f on the rock. Cool end 78/80 - i did the same as above.

UV reptisun 5%

No thermostat as per ameyzoo. lower the wattage of the bulb in the summer - i am not in all day to keep an eye on the temps.

also i was under the impression about only feeding him once a day, again from the shop, but dont quote me on the once a day, they never said 2 or 3 though.
hes around 5 months old (I did ask but I was so excited I forgot his age!)

feeding - locusts + veg on alternate days, dust with repton twice a week. they also said i could give wax worms (10) as his feed for one of those days - i know about them being a treat and not to be given regularly.

as per the advice from here i have fed him this morning, once he'd basked for an hour and had started eating from his veg dish, i figured he must be warm enough to eat now if he was choosing to. hes had as many locusts as i could give him (around 15, but some were a bit too small) the ones left are too small so i gave him about 5/6 wax worms (dusted) - theyre not big.

i am giving him light/heat for 12/13 hours / day, reduced from 14.

the locusts have veg on wet paper towel fresh daily, Ollies veg is fresh every day (now as per advice on here), along with his water. broccoli, peas, brussels, courgette, carrot, different mix each day.

i leave the house at 8.30am for work, returning at 6.45pm, basking light comes on at 8am, viv doesnt get to temp for about an hour - i am assuming i should put it on earlier so i can warm him up and feed him before i go to work? Then feed when I get in?

he seems happy, he wanted to come out about an hour after eating and is now on the window ledge watching the snow, he seems mesmerized!!

Thank you
