Default reptile shop...

Hey, this probably isnt the right place to post this but i went to a reptile shop today (near manchester) and was amazed to see two adult male cresteds in with a CWD in a very dry tank with little to no humidity and a heat bulb on....surely that cant be allowed? And a tank with leos in with probably a months worth of poo at the back of it. I love going to reptile shops but when i see anilmals like this I make sure i avoid them in the future.....

NY WAY MY QUESTION IS...i keep cresteds and I would never house them with a CWD has any one ever seen this done before?

The question is did you mention it to the shop keeper about your conserns
if you have a problem with a shop it's also up to you to point this out to the shop keeper............

I didnt as it was only an assistant who was in (i asked to look at a snake and he just opened the tank and left me to get it out so i think he was a bit scared about getting it out) but i will be e-mailing the shop with my concerns

i remeber postig something like this a while ago when i thought that my local pet shop was not doing things correctly, but then you have to rember that they are selling them and not a keeper or keeping them, they dont see them as pets ect and they may well be well with in the guide lines that pst shops need to adhear too.

Im not saying that what you saw was right or wrong jsut rember we see our reps as pets and shops not all but some see them as a product to be sold ect

i know, its just upsetting to see. If i had the money and space would happily emptied the shop (apart from the spiders and scorpians).

I go to lots of reptile shops in the North west and i only know of one which I think does the job good!

I think it got to me a bit today though because obviously i keep leos and cresteds so we know how we like them to be looked after.

i know it is i was the same the first time i went in to a pet shop that kept reps and went on a mad rant on here.

Even the pet shop i get my live food from has 2 male adult bds that in my not very expert opinion are far to dark in colour only in a viv about 1.5 ft by 1.5 foot at the very best and im being genorious and look thin and dont have the nice oval body bds have and id love to take them both and all the lizards home but cant.

so we jsut have to do the best for our loved ones.
