Well he`s just eaten a waxworm and a dusted dandelion leaf. Waxworm looked like it was made of rubber, had a hard time chewing on it but got there eventually.

OMG that has brought tears to my eyes - the poor thing, he must feel so weak and ill. You've done a wonderful thing by taking him with you...omg I cant belive how cruel people are. Its so upsetting. I hope he recovers quickly. Please keep us updated. Have you named him?

I`ve called him Rupert, after a foal i rescued from slaughter years back.

Any idea what would cause the scale loss on his underside? Is it likely his general condition/mites etc?

Edit: I`m pretty sure he`s a boy, but no sign of hemipenes due to having no flesh at all on his tail.

Thanks for all the wellwishes. I think all we can do is wait and hope that he`s not at the stage where his organs are failing, just hoping he`ll digest the little food that he`s eaten. The next few days will hopefully say one way or the other.
