Wow that's bad...one of the worst pictures I've ever seen. Best of luck with him! The fact that he can support his head / shoulders is very encouraging though. Do you know his background - ie why he's like that, has he had UV etc? It's odd that he's in that state and yet has fairly normal-looking joints, and his jaws match up, which suggests he doesn't have serious MBD.

At a guess the scale loss could be due to burns (although you'd possibly notice more damage to the skin unless it was a while ago), abrasion (which would probably leave more rough-looking scarring), or possibly the mites / a fungal infection. If it's not oozing or anything then it's probably the least of your worries for now.

If he's struggling to eat, waxworms may not be the best thing for him - much like a starved human, he needs enzymes to digest the fats in waxworms, which he is going to be pretty short on right now, given that he's probably starved of protein. I'd be tempted to try and get him eating newly-shed crickets / locusts / roaches (the white ones). They are very soft, and can almost be swallowed, with minimal chewing. They have very little exoskeleton, which will make digestion a lot easier for him. If he's short on digestive enzymes and is struggling to chew, the last thing you want to be doing is locking all the nutrients he needs away behind armoured exoskeleton (as in normal feeder insects). See how he goes on them, and make sure he has as much water as he wants (I think it was you who had the terrible experience with someone adopting one of your beardies, so you would know not to force water down his throat...) Keep a dish of finely chopped leaves (watercress / spring greens are easy to swallow) incase he wants them, either for food or for moisture.

Once again, best of luck with him. Given that he can hold himself up, I wouldn't say it's a totally hopeless situation!

Andy

Thanks very much Andy, thats great advice
I bathed him last night in a warm reptiboost solution, as you say, i obviously won`t be forcefeeding anything. I believe when they`re like him its got to be little and often, as i know his system wouldn`t cope with a massive burst of food.
This morning he has taken 3 freshly shed jumbo crickets, he`s very slow in the hunting department due to being weak and although he tries, he can`t catch anything, so they`ve been offered by fingers and he`s taken willingly, i`ve got the rest in the fridge to slow them down a bit, and a bit of spring greens so at least he is making the effort to eat. As long as his digestion works then i`m quite hopeful for this guy. Hopefully i got him just in time.
I am surprised he has the mobility he does given his condition, he can still move around quite well. I don`t think he has MBD, as like you say his joints look fine, i think he just hasn`t fed for a long long time, whether because it wasn`t offered, or because the bigger one ate everything before this one had a chance.

His history as far as i know it, is that he was bred by the person i got him from. He said he`s taken him to the vets and had him treated for worms etc...i don`t think i personally believe he`s seen a vet recently, as surely the vet would have also picked up on the mites and investigated further if he wasn`t gaining weight. He was in with another larger beardie who he said bullied him quite a lot, hence why half his tail is missing, but for some reason he didn`t think to separate them. He didn`t seem concerned about the condition he was in, saying it was normal for him to look like that.
I`m giving him a few days to gain strength, and will be taking him to the vet with a poo sample to make sure nothing internal is going on.
