He`s still quite lethargic, more so now than when he arrived. I`m holding on to as much hope as i dare at the moment.

Lastest dilemma is do i take him to the vet in the morning?
I`m weighing up the pros and cons at the moment, ie cons being if i take him, its a 50min journey to the local vets (the only one i trust with reps anyway) chances are i could easily lose him in transit, or the stress will kill him. I don`t think he is currently strong enough to take any antiparasitic treatment, ie wormer. I`m thinking at the moment that if there is anything internal going on like organ failure, the only thing the vet could do now is euthanase him, which i fear would be their recommendation anyway. Would it be better to just let him go? Or keep fighting with the risk that i`m just prolonging his suffering?
Of course its possible they can do something for him, like give him fluids, antibiotics etc, but is his little body strong enough to take the stress?

I really don`t know what to do. Do i continue giving him fluids and trying to get some energy into him to get him going? Do i risk the chances of taking him to the vet? What do you think? Having a real moral battle right now.

Hi have you tried havin a chat with your vet over the phone? Might help to decide whether there is something they may want to try thats worth the stress of taking him.
If not, if it were me, I'd carry on and give him a chance until I thought it was time that enough was enough.... if he's still willingly eating that must be a good sign. Have you tried critical care? Think its suitable for pretty much everything, not used it myself though. Might be easier on his system??
Good luck with him.

I think when you assess the Beardie's condition in the morning your heart will tell you what the right thing is to do, only you i think can decide that... as we can only read whats said about him...you can see his current state of health in front of you, and tomorrow is a different day...things might be better for him...lets hope.

my personal opinion is VET immediately..

only my personal opinion.. id hate to leave it mand and you might regret it but its a catch 22 i understand...

I hope he pulls through but thats one horrific case of severe neglect..

have u thought about adeno virus or getting his bloods done to see how high his white count is then maybe u can know if ure dealing with infection or bacteria or something else other than severe neglect????

we had out rescue WD admitted for 9 days critical care and it was the best decision we could have made...

I`m going to phone the vet in the morning as RedGex has suggested to get his opinion. Unfortunately, taking him immediately isn`t an option as i don`t get my car back until tomorrow morning, so the morning is the soonest i can take him, but totally agree on the blood tests etc, if they can find any blood, as i think the mites have taken the majority of it.

I`m just still so angry at the state of this creature its untrue, but i decided to take him on, therefore i will do anything i have to to get him well, or end his suffering.

I have bathed him this eve in a solution of Critical Care and Reptiboost, and he has had a drink of it, so may keep his strength up until tomorrow. He seems a bit more perky this eve, and has pooped so at least i know the food he`s taken is being digested, so hopefully his digestive tract is relatively intact. He`s taking a few soft crix and some greens, i`m chopping the greens as i would with a hatchling and gently boiling it for a minute to soften...yes i know boiling reduces nutritional values, but better something than nothing eh?

Hey sounds like some good news then. I agree obviously a vet trip is a good idea, but like you say, sometimes can be too much, if he can get his strength up a little first then he'll deal with the stress a whole lot better, and no doubt theyll be able to get a blood sample much more quickly and efficiently if he is well hydrated. Congrats on your poo!
