In the wild the soil is naturally rich in calcium so as the plants grow they take it in.

Also, commercially available insects and the kind of greens we can provide are not a patch on those available to wild animals.
In the wild variety is the key to a full complement of vitamins and minerals. Even the best homebred crickets/locusts/roaches etc gutloaded well etc just isnt the same as variety so we suppliment to hedge our bets ![]()

What i do is when i grow plants outside to feed my tortoises. i sprinkel limestone flour in the soil. This way the plants will take in the calcium as they grow.
I sell it on ebay eBay.co.uk Shop - Shelled Warriors: Limestone flour: Limestone flour 500g, calcium carbonate tortoise, snail This can also be sprinkled on food, this is only calcium carbonate
