every rep is different,

i researched and found that beardies like a ft of substrate to lay in and would not lay with male in sight - she layed in the same viv in the cold hide.

heard similar things with most arid area monitors - burrows or termite mounds

they will lay, its just they have prefered sites

like i sid a mate of mines laid twice all over the viv, there is just a good chance that she wont lay without the correct condtions. Another mate built termite mound that she could break into and filled it with sand

I would have thought that too. It's normally the extremely minimum size for one adult - let alone two. Not enough laying depth either - it's the females particularly that need the deeper substrate.

I think the idea of CBB boscs is a good one - but as everyone has said it is supposed to be very difficult to achieve. I'd really like to try this one day but would have difficulty housing two, especially if they decided they didn't like one another or both turned out to be male (very easy when young). Sometimes a pair is mistaken to be male/female when one is seen on top of the other, as males will do that to other males to show their dominance.

Some people (not me) can tell which is male or female in boscs by the head shape. Anyone can tell if you happen to see your bosc evert - so long as you know what they're looking for.

not necesarily no.

in breeding of lizards can cause probs and should be avoided but one gen inbred i dont think causes any probs, and then if you make sure the babies are then outbred with unrelated blood the next gen down then no probs should occur.

swapping babies with othe rbreeders is the way to go though.

So the OP could breed another lizard from the same clutch with no problems?

thing is..with captive farmed boscs.. you arent liekly to get them from the same clutch anyway... if they are actually cb... then i guess he could track down a bosc from the same clutch, and breeding them together SHOULDNT cause a problem, unless those parents of the boscs in question were also related...

which again is unlikely with such a majority being captive farmed.

but it wouldnt be ideal..why do you ask? do you have a bosc what you think is the same clutch?
