Question Lazy BD or Bad habits ??

Got two BDs last February, male called Itchy 16" & female called Scratchy 21"; previous owner not sure of their age.
They were both housed together in a 6foot tank. As the male stopped eating for over a month, brought it to the vet and was told to separate them.
It took a good month before I could get them two separated, but during that time Itchy started eating again if I was hand feeding him only!
after few weeks he started eating worms out of the bowl, only if he thought I wasn't looking.
Now that they are separated, he won't go to the bowl at all !!!!
He'll only eat if I handfeed him worms and Locust!
Sometime he would catch a wee locust here and there, but it has to be right in front of his nose.
Does anyone else has that problem??
Could he have become lazy when I had to hand feed him baby food and worms while he was sick??

Beardeds, as adults do tend to become very lazy.
You could try to in a way starve him for a few days. It may sound bad, but it's worth seeing if he gets hungry enough to go looking for his food.

Have they eaten any veges or anything too?

He's a boy, what do you expect! Our male is pretty similar, won't chase his roaches and only eats veg if hand fed. Starving for a week is probably the only way to try getting him to forage - otherwise you've got a job for life.

agree with what has already been said.my 4 year old male was exactly the same he got used to me spoiling him and hand feeding.i stopped hand feeding for around a week and now he will if hes hungry enough go get food himself.of course i have days when i want to handfeed him and he quite happily takes them from me.
beardies like routine they get used to something and get stuck in the routine.
time to mix it up a little and make him go hunt.
he wont starve himself if you dont hand feed he will eventually give up waiting on you and start looking for them himself.
good luck

Our male is exactly the same, he wont go looking for his food, he waits until we bring it to him, and we do cos we're soft and we love him too much. I'm not hard enough yet to starve him
