Cool Asking a stupid question or two.

Ok these are probably stupid question’s but I’m asking them anyway. 1. Basking rocks, is there anything special about them or are they just any old big flat rock? 2. If you have to turn off all the light in the viv when its night time how do you keep the temp up? 3. How is it possible to get the basking rock hotter then the surrounding area? 4. How often do you need to feed and how much do you give? 5. What’s the deal with no water bowls, positive they need to drink don’t they? Now I bet your as confused as I am by now so I’ll tell you what the animal I’m going on about is…….
It’s a bearded dragon. Well done all hew figured it out with out me telling you, your all ace. Any answers are much appreciated.
Thanks.
(Just to let you all know in advance there will be no doubt that I’ll be back with more dumb questions that need answers as and when think of them)

a basking rock is best if it retains heat (like usual rocks) and you can put this on top of a surface in ure viv so its higher to the light (make sure it cant collapes or fall off) and that will make it hotter than any other part, just aslong as its under the light.. some people use ceramice bulbs at night that give off heat but not light... not too sure on beardie feeding but i'd assume its daily.. im pretty sure beardies do need water bowls just put a small amount of water in so its not helping the humidity.. ( water bowls can be sources of bacteria so use a small ammount) place water bowl in the cooler side, and i think its pretty much the same as uros and chuckies that you lightly spray veg before given to the BD
hope that helped a lil

1. Basking rocks, is there anything special about them or are they just any old big flat rock?

They are any rock which can be either flat or shaped, I use various different ones.

2. If you have to turn off all the light in the viv when its night time how do you keep the temp up?

BD can cope with a temp drop to about 65F at night so no need for heating unless your house is cold.

3. How is it possible to get the basking rock hotter then the surrounding area?

Place it directly under the bask lamp, tho it should not be too close that it gets really hot as it may burn your BD

4. How often do you need to feed and how much do you give?

As badies, 2-3 times a day with crix/locus and a bowl of veg/greens and as they get old reduce the crix/locus to once a day

5. What’s the deal with no water bowls, positive they need to drink don’t they?

I've seen my BD drink from it twice, tho you may never do so, best leave a small amount of water incase they do

I hope this helps and ask away from anything else, really helpful bunch on here

4. How often do you need to feed and how much do you give?

My adult Beardie gets greens everyday, and gets a mix of Crix, Locusts, Roaches and Morio Worms every other day. Found that she's not too fussy for food every day.

5. What’s the deal with no water bowls, positive they need to drink don’t they?

I don't have a water bowl in my Beardie viv. She gets a bath once every couple of weeks and gets a spray with the bottle i mist the other tanks with a couple of times a week.

P.S...The writing doesn't need to be so big. :P

lol yer sorry bout that all my threads start out like that for some reason.
when you say "she gets a bath" how?
do you just put her in the bath tub with a bit of water or rub her over with a wet cloth?

Cool...

When she was smaller i used to put a little bit of warm water in the bathroom sink. Shallow enough that she could still stand in it, and gently splash the water over her.

Now that she's bigger she goes into the bath. I make sure that she can still stand in the deep end and that the waters not too deep. Then let her walk about in there for abit.
