To help with the original post our male beardie puffs his out when its not black it reminds me of a frog when he does it as its not black. He does however get a black beard and puff it when we've got the leo out i think hes jealous bless him. So if its not black i think they all do it like just stretching or something.

Your pic in your sig is very nice btw.

Pretty sure the beard is to warn away predators and not just an indication of sex. It's a bit of a Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar, look I'm angry Grrrrrrrrrrr grrrrrrrrrr grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Thank you, I have that picture as the wallpaper on computer So can I be 100% sure I have a female. She doesn't do it that often and the beard doesn't go dark that often she puffs it in and out quite alot though. I was'nt sure if this was something both sexes of bearded dragon do when they are hot or something? Sorry if it sounds like I'm not listening I'm just trying to get my head around how it works. I would like to learn more if i can . Thanks every1

If so its quite funny that he thinks the leo thats half his size is a predator bless him. But i do think it could be true, they can sometimes go a bit black but when he sees the leo its full on black and puffed out running about like a crazy bugger and a couple of times has bobbed his head. In the morning or when hes hungry and he has to wait cause we need to buy some locusts he can be a bit black but after a while he goes back to his normal colour.

If they are hot then they will either move to the cool end or gape.....
