they might not have done yet, but if it did they would probably fight to death.

the situation isnt 'NEVER' as you put it, there is a place near us called silent world (look it up if you dont believe me) and they keep two beardie males together and not ONCE have they fought, NOT ONCE, and i know this because my brother works there, its not a shop, they dont really sell they just let people see....its a great place and to be honest the two males are constantly snugling up together and so fourth so i disagree that it 'NEVER' works because sometimes it does........
Unfortunately their first fight may well be the last for one of them.

I've seen a video on Youtube of someone who cohabited a small rodent (I think it was a hamster...) and a cornsnake - would you advise someone "never" to keep a small, fluffy rodent and an adult cornsnake together, or would you say "it's probably not adviseable, but I saw it done one time"? I personally would say "never", as the chances of it working out are slim-to-none, and the risks if it doesn't work out are serious. It would be like keeping a small child in a room with a lot of exposed wiring - sure, there's a small chance that the baby will never touch the exposed wires, but there's a much larger chance that the baby will touch the wires. If it does, the consequences are dire. I think in that situation, people would say "never leave a small child alone in a room with exposed wires" - unless they were being especially pedantic...?
