They've got a lot of different characters, like humans and where as some respond well to interaction, others never will do well at all. "Training" methods vary too. Gauge what yours responds to the best and stick with it.
Mine is responding to a combination of what others on here have said. Friends with Boscs in the past have had success in other ways. There used to be one resident at a reptile shop in Notts that I used to go in that was "tame" from a Juvenile and needed no encouragement to react well to the company of humans.

I Bought my Bosc 2 weeks ago, he's already 18 months old. The pet shop told me he only got handled once maybe twice a week whilst they cleaned his tank, when i asked to see him out. he went for the "come here you" grabbbb approach, i've never seen something more stressed in my life! he shat every where, got the guy too ;p then i held him. he was freaking out good style.
He's in a 4ft long tank atm (going to the timber yard tomorrow morning to get some beech wood and make him a bad ass 8 footer). At first, you could forget even looking at him without the hissing and tailwhipping! he's slowly getting used to me, Its only been 2 weeks, but im gradually spending more and more time with him each day. I've got this system down >(strangely) I lie down eye level to him. whilst he watches. eventually stops paying attention to me, just to let him know im there. >Open the sliding door. after a few minutes. put my hand in the sand, he notices keeps a good watch, i keep distance from him though. >if its feeding time i use tongs at first. then dangle with my fingers. (he's now taking from my hand.. no mishaps yet :P) >after feeding or if im not feeding, i gradually get closer and stroke his back, moving up to his head after a while, he has a few spots he likes, his ears mostly (starts closing his eyes and lies down). >he then gets bored of me and gives a good whip or hiss. when this happens i just leave him alone for a while. but its getting longer and longer each day now. as for handling, im not going to get him out the tank for a while. although last night when i was sitting down in front of the tank with the door open, he came out and crawled onto my hand, gave him a short back rub. and then let him back in. I'll work on the walking and getting him exploring my room in the later months ![]()
