It just said stumpy tail. Nothing about regenerated. No other info. If i was a young kid going in with my family, I may have said, oh wow, look at that a stumpy tail gecko. And then when we get it home and discover its regenerated after the original fell off, I think my folks would be pretty disgusted. There should be no reason for a tail to fall off if they are being treated correctly should there? Yes i know stress is a factor, but being in a pet shop, should the animals wellfare be top priority?

Even if they are looked after correctly they can loose their tail, if they get it caught somewhere or are housed with another gecko. I think if you were going to buy it the people in the shop would tell you that its regenerated and it wont affect its health or anything.

I think this is been blown out of all proportion. Was it in with other geckos? Perhaps the fact it had its own price was to reflect the difference between it and others, an identify the individual.

There is no difference in saying a stumpy tail or re-gen.

There's a thread today about a gecko who bit her OWN tail off.

All my reading about leos before I got them said that they were very sensitive to having their tails touched and would drop them if they felt even slightly frightened.... I have since found out this is not true in general, but I still had a couple of baby geckos who dropped their tails after hatching because picking them up stressed them out that badly.

when a leo looses its tail is it actual autotomy, or does it require pulling to detacth? im guessing the latter, when people refer to 'drop' it souds more a conscious decision rather than accident, so to spea

They can autotomise (drop the tail with a wiggling motion) without the tail being touched.

Its not reli a bad thing.. sum ppl like the look of the regen tail. Alot of leos do drop it and it may have been no fault of the shop. could have been born like that...
