i have heard of leos dropping tails from a simple action like observing the underside in an attempt to sex, a missing tail doesnt mean bad husbandry.

It didn't even look likw a tail, it was a ball!!!

A leo that re-gen it's good or bad it's life. The turm re-gen or stumpy for a regenerated tail is common pratise a lot lot of reptile owner know just what you mean when you say stumpy. The rest say what you got a shingle back. The turm drop tail means a lizard has freshly drop it's tail.Stumpy leo's are just as heathly as a non stumply leo.And gec's can drop there tail for meny reasons some esayer than others.I had a fat tail that drop it tail coz of thunder.Usually stumpys are a bit cheeper but that down to the breeder/seller they don't have to be.It's not a law that a stumpy has to be cheeper. How much was this leo ? if it was higher than the other cage mates/etc that had own tails then yes that's miss leading as that would seem there trying to catch a novist out.But if the stumpy was the same price or cheeper as the own tail how would that be cashing in on the fact that it's a stumpy ??.

I think this may have simply been misinterpreted.
It is likely that the "stump tail" is simply a note on the records etc to remind people that it is "damaged" or to show why it may have a different price.
I make notes on my boxes to remind me if the snake is odd in some way.
I have a lovely corn called "quite". she wont eat if you watch her, she like to eat in quite.
Any snake produced with kinks or bumps has these notes on their records.
Small snakes are all marked TINY for special care and the smallest of pinkies.
And I even have a corn which I bought with a bit cut off the very end of her tail marked as stumpy.

leos can drop their tails, not always due to stress. I think its good the shop have highlighted it, ok so not in the best described way and maybe they're assuming people would recognise a regen tail.

I know someone who lifted a hide up for thier mossy gecko (think it was mossy) and accidently dropped it back on the gecko and it dropped its tail. accidents do happen and colony/breeding aggression sometimes results in tail loss, not always down to mistreatment

I seem to remember the price being something like £70 which I thought was a bit excessive - it was a hypo (maybe super, can't remember) which I suppose people might pay for a 'perfect' hypo....
I've got a feeling afore mentioned shop also had 2 saharan sand boas mislabelled as kenyans.

i never buy a gecko with a regeneratet tail, they are likly to be very stressed and unhealthy. when i first started buying leos i wents to **** rep shop, i had little knowledge of leo, and the pet shop owner took advantage! he had a healthy leo and a leo with a thin tail. he said that the healthy one was very aggresive and he diddn't reccomend i bought it, probbably so that i took the unhealthy leo off his hands! little suspicious if u ask me.

do we know that the tail was re generated?? i have a young leo with a "stumpy tail" its not a regenerated tail its the one it was born with.obviously most people would notice that the tail was'nt "normal" but if i was to sell her i'd have to say she had a "stumpy tail" or something similar.
