[quote=GeckoMorphs;2727291]Problem is that some beardies will brumate whatever you do, so you may not end up with much choice. At that age, you should try everything you can, but if your beardy wants to sleep you may have to let him/her.
As wacky69 says keep a close eye on her and make sure she is healthy throughout hi,i agree with you,ive tried to keep her alert and putting her in the basking area but she goes straight bavk to slleping,i know shes young but id rather she brumated paecefully than me keep pestering her which in turn could stress her ,when would you recommend feeding her,im 99% im gonna let her brumate, also shes just a tad under 300g and looks very healthy.

I would offer a small bowl of salad no less often than once a week, see if the smell gets her interested, make sure she has access to water. I used to give dobby a bath every couple of weeks and then tried feeding straight after, he sometimes took salad and a couple of crix, but usually ignored them. I didn't find waking him up for this was problematic and it gave me a chance to check him over and make sure he wasnt losing weight. Remember, brumation isn't hibernation, so disturbing your beardie isn't going to harm or stress it as it would a hibernating animal. Also, I kept checking for signs of movement... if she wakes up, offer her food and water as she may be looking for it. That is my experience and it worked fine, maybe other people will say different... the best advice I can give you is to use common sense as only you know your individual beardy. If she wants to sleep, let her, when she wants to eat or wake up she will let you know. All you can do is keep an eye on her and make sure you are on hand when she needs you (food, water, baths and weight checks). Hope that helps |

[quote=GeckoMorphs;2727472]I had no choice at all last year and dobby was only about 5 months old... I tried EVERYTHING but he wouldn't eat and just dug himself a burrow. He brumated for about 4 months, but has grown huge since then, he is a very healthy dragon and it hasn't effected him at all. In the wild they brumate from their first winter... they haven't got a choice!
