Also if he "has the horn" you need to seperate them as the female is not old enough to mate.

P.S. Sorry if I've got the wrong end of the stick, your comment above has confused me lol.
If he's hiding in his hide, he will not be getting enough UV or correct temps etc.... so you need to remove the hide.

You are going to need to seperate very soon for the sake of the females health. Do you realisethe stress from being pestered and the risk of becoming egg bound if they do mate whilst they are young? IT CAN KILL HER

Out of interest, did you find out the cause of death for your other beardie, and did you quarantine the younger one before you put it in the viv, or get the female checked by a vet????

Not in your case Nataliej, no..... but if a beardie is using their hide during the day, the UV rays will not get to them etc etc so needs to be removed

Ok my old beardy died due to it swallowing sand it couldn't digest also My male just chases the female every now and then she is not stressed right now they are cuddled together. I have made my tank so the female can climb out of the males way as hes just lazy and doesn't like to climb. He hides in the hide which I hve put so there are UVB rays getting in I Have taken into account for every possible fault after my other 1 died.

The reason why I asked was if there had been something else wrong with the beardie, and you hadn't got your female checked out, you were then putting the younger one at risk by not quarantining him, obviously if you are 100% it was sand that killed him, then this is not the case, and not quarantining is entirely up to you.... there is of course risks by doing this, but I'm sure you know that already.

I'm not sure from your last two posts if your beardie is 'lazy' or not, but it isn't right that a beardie does spend the majority of time in his hide and really needs to be able to get with in 6" of his UV, as well as have adequate basking time. If your beardie is being lazy, then he could possibly be being dominated by the older one (sounds unlikely but it could be), or it could be a sign that there could be something wrong with him.

I use sand and have never had any problems, others have had problems, as you have with impaction. So, it is up to you to look at the options carefully and weigh up the risks of using sand....

in my opinion i would never have a bearded dragon on sand as they love to lick everything and sand going into them isnt good as it will probably cause impaction, as i have lost a bd to sand impaction before, but as i have said this is my opinion.
