They are bringing out a new line of sand, we talked to the rep a few weeks ago and expressed concern about the calci sand products. She was very friendly and said they knew that medically calci sand could prove hazardous for some species, and that their new range would be fully dissolvable in water, meaning any that was eaten, would dissolve and could never cause impaction.

We haven't researched this or tested this product but hope to, and will only stock it if it is true.

If they are marketting this then it is certainly scientifically and economically viable and there is nothing to say that it is not already available in some countries or that other brands have not brought out something similar.
