Default Raising baby bearded dragons. Heating

Checking for my brother..

He has successfully raised 2 baby beardies from eggs in a small glass tank with compact fluorescent UV bulb and a basking lamp connected to a dimmer stat.

He recently bought a twin channel stat not realizing it's not really meant for basking lamps.

Rather than have to buy more stats would it be possible to heat the beardies using ceramics?

They are definately better off with a basking light rather than a ceramic heat.
