I've just had to separate my two adult female cresties - they have lived quite happily together with one adult male and a whites tree frog for about six months now. One of them (Clementine) has had some severe crest damage which is now healing very well. Initially i had wrongly assumed that the damage around the neck area was due to foreplay with Bob. It was only when my son actually witnessed the fighting that i believed it to be the girls. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, have you been able to reintroduce them? The viv plenty big enough to house 3 adults and the habitat allows for 'personal' space, always plenty food etc, so i'm stumped.

I know plenty of people who keep whites in with cresties and various other gecko's and nobody that i know of has ever had an issue with it, they get on just fine and have the same requirements and a huge amount of space. My local reptile shop has a great reputation and it was at their suggestion that this could be acomplished without comprimising either the frog or the cresties.

At feeding time my two female leo's sometimes bite each other really hard and dont let go for a few seconds. It happens when they are hunting and because they hunt on movement they seem to get confused if a cricket or locust is close by and grab the wrong thing.
They never get badly hurt but it's not very nice to watch. They never attack each other at any other time and they are both well fed I just think sometimes they get very greedy tracking their prey and the grab the wrong thing. |

thanks for the feedback, i think i'm gonna take your advice, I have a juvie male that i hatched last July so when he's bulked up a bit (like, in about another 8 months!!) I may just set up another big viv to house Clementine and him in so then i'll have two pairs. I just don't like to think of her being lonely, although she seems a lot more perky now, which i guess isn't surprising!

Most definately both girlies, and one male in a viv which is 2' x 2' x 2.5' high, plenty of 'personal' space/hides etc - do you think perhaps my male might be lacking in the libido department and the females are fighting for dominance? It's the only other thing i can think of! |

I take it they have not breed before? Because, i guess, it could be just that...
I'm no expert on creaties but leo are are hatched male/female based on incubation temperture, don't know about creasties. I know you can get hot females i.e. a female that should be male but is female. as a result they have temperment problems. Might be something like that?

The really aggresive one was gravid when I purchased her and I managed to hatch one of the eggs. The less dominant one, and one that has recieved the most crest damage was bought at the Barking show last July but was too small to be put in with my others for quite some time, I waited until she was almost identical in size before introducing them and they have lived together fine for the past 6 months. The older one has since laid two further eggs - but they colapsed 'cause i was away at the time (Grr) so i don't know if they were fertile or not she is presently very heavily gravid. The youngster has yet to produce a batch and although appears sexually mature i have not witnessed any courting behaviour between my male and either of the girls (perhaps he doesn't realise when his luck is in!). The young one is now larger (although not considerably) than the aggresive one so i'm sure it's not a 'size' issue. I'll do a bit more reading
