hi everyone i just want to ask a quick question. i think i know the answer but i just wanted to check with you guys first. when mealworms turn into beetles is it right that its best not feed them to your leos or chams. im not sure if ive read somewhere that they can be harmful to them. can anyone help please.

i remember reading serval times on this forum about them not being good for leos, and potentially toxic, though i havent seen anything on it as late and well things change, onceupon a time peep on here would not adise mealies for leos, now everyone seems to be feeding them lol

There's no problem if leopard geckos eat them, they're erfectly fine like most insects, though they do have a tendency to spray formic acid. It's ot dangerous in small amounts but smells awful, it makes me gag so you can imagine what its like for a leo with sensitive smell!
If they'll eat them, you can feed them in small doses, wouldn't use them as a staple as there's no nutrition in them, and there's no benefit as a treat. It won't do them any harm, but they won't do any good either ![]() |
