Unhappy carpet chameleon

sadly my carpet chameleon past away last night. it was about 9 months old and showed no signs of any thing being wrong apart from a bad shed a few weeks ago. i sprayed it twice aday and let it have good ventalation and a constant temp it was fed well even yesterday evening. how common are these sorts of deaths as im interested to know if it was any thing i did to kill it?

so sorry for your loss but i really wouldn`t blame yourself,my mates cham died recently and it was eating/shedding and lively,no explanation?i think these things happen unfortunately but if as you say he looked and acted healthy then i would put this down as a bad experience rather than you did anything wrong.

I had the exact same problem with a Yemen. I refuse the keep chameleons now, they are a nightmare.

9 months old is pretty young. carpets don't have a huge life expectancy. sadly the main killer with carpets as with most chams is respitory infections. these can occur very quickly and unless treated ASAP they often lead to untimely death.

when you say you had good ventilation how much is good?

indeed sorry to hear about your chameleon. I have kept that species my self and they are not a easy breed to keep. What you had is what I call a mystery death. Chameleons are known for that. They seem to be ok and then just die with in a few hours.

surely chams mainly die due to improper husbandry not mystery deaths.there is always a reason for a cham or any other rep dying.
