you don't need much expertise, stick the 2 ends inside the viv, push the tube into each end and switch on. Although i can understand why you're confused, before i got mine all the talk of starters, tubes, thermostats, dimmers and heat bulbs sounds like proper hard work but once its set up you look at it and think 'was that it?'

I thought it would be as easy as that, but the holder I bought from the shop (the one that the tube fits into) has no wiring at all, so it needs all the wiring attaching to it too - I know my limits when it comes to electricity, I can change bulbs, fuses and plugs, but that's it

wish i could get one like that, got 3 starters and had a 'mare with each of them trying to get the ends into the viv.
