Default Locusts DO bite

In response to a recent thread about adult locusts being able to bite, it is true!

Working in the shop this week I was boxing up the adults, only to feel a stinging pain on my finger. Looked down and a locust had sunk his "teeth" into me and was chewing away! All the crappy black stuff that comes out their mouth was being excreted into the bite, and there was blood (ok, a very very small amount of blood) and some swelling.

It didn't really hurt, or wasn't particularly impressive, just thought I'd answer the question with first hand experience!

Cheers!

I prefer locusts to crix, as does my BD.

What is the black stuff that comes out of their mouths? is it like our spit or something?
