Oh I will! He mainly said to use it to help towards it not happening again as he feels there is a reason to why she is doing this, and its lead him to believe that although I use all the suppliments like Arkvids and the normal other stuff we all use, cant remember the name, summin like nutrobol I think its called, she is not injesting enough of it, although she is eating, and the heavier covered crickets and locusts are being eaten by the others which is why they are not having a problem

I know she is eating as she is normally the 2nd one out to eat as the 1st is little miss attitude as always! And she is the larger of the 2 that were from the same clutch, and nearly as big as her older sister from the clutch before so you can tell she is healthy in that way, but the possible calcium definciancy is what can cause this, but I am still unsure as she is a great eater! But this will hopefully all be found out tonight

He just says the UV may help this from not happening again if she refuses to eat the calcium properly! Although when I moved her over, I gave her loads of food smothered in the suppliment to try see if it can help, but although its doing her bones, its not doing the other areas that stop them from suffering any other effects! This is the part thats confusing and the reason I didnt 1st expect it to be a calcium related issue as I use it regular, and also have a calcium tab in there for them to lick from whenever they please

arkvits is a multivits, so is nutrobol...
although i think nutrobol may do a pure calcium...
you do have one pure calcium for supplementing yeh?
if not that could very well be the case [although uv still wont come into it]
we supplement with nutrobol [or other multivit] twice a week and pure calcium 4 times a week for all our reps.
the leos tend to only eat every other day so they get calcium twice and multivits once of ourse] but also a small lid of calcium is advised to be left in a viv with leos at all times.

edit- I see you said u do use calcium though, its just the 2 names u mentione dat the begining of the above post are i think both multivits.. calcium tends to be very white..multivits kinda off white/baige [sp]
whats a calcium tab?

Mines a multi, it has everything I need in it!

Its done me well with all my other animals I have that need it, and they are all big, healthy, and I have never had to take them to a vet for anything other than a check up

This is the 1st time I have ever had to take mine to a vet for anything bad! So not the best part of animal ownership, although its something we need to do at times!

All I care at the moment is that I know she will get good treatement as they place im taking her to are rep specialists

yes its majorly unfortunate

But this is where I am lucky as my local rep shop are amazing! The worker there will happily spend ages on the phone, or to your face, answering ANY questions you have!!!

Otherwise known as Emsworth Aquaria and Reptiles, the guy that works there is called Paul ,looks like the guy from Right Said Fred lol!!! But he knows his stuff!

This is why I used arkvidz as its amazing, and you can only get it from a vets if I remember rightly

Gonna try get more tonight!

My sister used to get it for me but she has given up being a vet. nurse, although every other job shes done since has bored her so im hoping she realises her tue calling and gets back into vets lol!

hi dave.
ok mate, good luck but if u dont use a pure calcium then it is liekly he hasnt had enough calcium.
any one here and any care sheet or book about leos will say that calcium is th emost important supplement so a multivit that is 8% or even 16& calcium is in efficent.

Badgers mum... I find that shocking.
again.. the harm these leo dusts repashy range has done imo is absolutely HUGE.. u can understand if the shop gets all these in thinking they dont need to stock pure calcium..but why do they al still do nutrobol and other multivits? wierd.

to the layman... "oh this is calcium"
"well this is calcium and 50 other vits...this one is betetr value"
is understandable... but totally wrong of course.
Terible shame.
Whenever soemthings becomes popular..............
just liek the playstation... ruined videogaming on the purest level as far as quality goes... This would appear to be happening with our hobby.

edit-
in response to the above post
ask your amazing shop what the biggest problem with lizards in captivity is....its mbd...and then ask him the cause... lack of calcium..and then ask..actually no worries its not worth it, the info is all around the place.

alot of this is due to too many people getting into the shops part of reptile sales and not knowing what their doing

but remember, bad advice given to one person, will be passed onto the next, and the next etc etc!

This is why I made a MAJOR mistake when I 1st got into this, info given to me by A SHOP!

would you say the leo dust combined with calypso is no good then?
the ingredients in the dust are
crude protein 25%
crude fat 1.5%
crude fibre 3%
moisture 8%
ash 8%

it then lists
calcium(ca) min 14%
calcium(ca) max 16%
vit A acetate 20,000iu/kilo
vit D3 4000 iu/kilo

that means very little to me but if youve got some nutrabol(or eqivalent) and could post up the ingredients that would be good to compare
im not adverse to changing the products i use so id just like to see whats in what

Nutrobal

Contents per gram:

200mg calcium & 150IU D3, plus vitamins A E K B1 B2 B6 B12 C, folic, nicotinic & pantothenic acids, biotin choline niacin and minerals Na Fe Co I Mn Zn Se Cu.

Exactly as it reads on the label, doesn't mean much too me not sure about any one else? and doesnt really help to compare as doesnt give same list.

Hope the leo gets better mate,

Ben

Yeah thanks, your not the only 1, my other half would be heartbroken if she doesnt pull through, we have not long got her and her sister from my friend, her sister is doing well, its just her and its a shame and frightening watching her have her fits! When I get back from the vets and get online I wll post up the results if anything and let you all know how I got on

Also:
I think it would be a great idea to find someon willing to make up a list and make it a sticky or something listing the products, and give them a rating and some general info on how good or bad they are, for most of the products they do

This way we wont get bad information, and we can then get the CORRECT stuff for our animals, and know that we arent just wasting our money on something that wont benefit the animal

What you think? good/bad idea?
