im a beliver that most animals can be tamed down, i have got a bosc and a nile in the shop and the nile which was poorly treated in the past is taming down slowly with some carefull human interaction. the bosc i have got is a little fiesty but persistance pays off i think and i even got him out today and only cot a couple of tail slaps lol.

Default bosc monitors

many years ago i used to habe a pair that were about 3 foot they used to be the best lizards i have ever owned so tame it was unreal.I used to open fronts on there pens and they used to wonder in and out and walk about with my staffies(dogs)

The strange thing is this evening i seen an ad for a 3 foot bosc, and is dog tame,So i'm going to have a look and maybe even buy it.

i also believe you can tame anything it just a matter of dedication time and patience at the end of the day they are all wild animals at heart so can all be tamed u just gotta be willing to put in time and effort and niles are one of ma fave lizards lol i think their beutiful

exactly an so many care sheets say their brillaian lizards and intelligent it just really annoyed me ive shown them so much proof and they actually have the nerve to say that the people that write the care sheets are wrong and it really me off seriously i mean ive show about 6 care sheets now lol

Mine was one of the tamest lizards I've seen to date. I could do anything with him. He used to like being scratched behind the earhole - he'd lean into it too kinda like a dog/cat would. From my experiences working with Bosc's in petshops I've worked at they've ALL responded well to handling. You've just got to be willing to put the effort in. Daily handling will calm them. Some will take longer than others is all.

I think its important to remember that when talking about "tame and really docile" with boscs, it still is a different kind of tame or docile than what you would have with a beardie, leo or other less...erm...Monitorish lizards [sorry couldnt think]

you defo have to treat them with more respect than othe rspecies but for ppl to call them HORRIBLE MONSTERS... well they clearly havent got a clue and have prolly never even seen one in person so just lol at them.

ive been lucky with my bosc, he was realativly calm when i got him and after a lot of handelin he's gettin better every day. its a slow process but he very rarely hisses, he's ionly tried 2 bite me like twice i think when i 1st got him and its really rare he tail whips. lol he has off days occasionally but on the whole he's lovely, loves bein stroked and leans his head into ur finger when u tickle behind his ears. when u pick him up he'll jus sit on u for ages too. he's sumtimes a bit flighty but its not very often. like dean said they do demand respect and as they get older r capable of givin u trips 2 the hospital but i do believe they can b tamed. more so than most other species of monitor lizards. again tho like dean said its different 2 beardies and leos. i do believe they can become dog tame tho and have seen them display "affection". like all animals tho there r exceptions 2 the rule. sum will remain "evil" and nervous there whole lives. its pot luck really. i do think i was lucky with mine. a friend of mine had a 4 foot 1 and it used 2 chase him. soon as the viv was open it would run out and try bite him. i think the trick is selectin a calm and healthy baby
