Default Yemen feeding

Hi,

After a bit of advice regarding feeding Yemen Chameleons. Got a little female at rodbaston , asked what size crix to feed but forgot to ask how many. According to some info i found on the net it should be about 4-6 crix 2 to 3 times a day. however she always seems hungry. the second we put her crix in the viv she is down and wolfs them straight away. One day last week we were going out so put 14 in to last her all day. 5 mins later.....all gone! so we increased the amount she has, at the moment she is eating about 24 crix a day and would happily eat more.
so are we feeding her too much or not enough or................?
Forgot to say she was born on 25th sept so is nearly 9 weeks old.

Nick

i always fed mine all they wanted. i never ever had any problems. and i had several and bred them repeatedly. i had dense foilage so the chameleons had to find the crickets instead of just chowing down in a spartan cage. they would nail them all day long.

i remember my first veiled. i was always amazed at how much they could pack away. at the shop i started selling veileds and told the owner that they will be real money makers not by selling the lizards but selling feeder insects... he didn't believe me as we only sold a few but slowly people started coming in 2 or 3 times a week buying crickets. our cricket and super worm orders easily quadrupled. we began running out after a few days even. veildes are pure-dee hogs!!

Hi
the crix are about 8-10mm (2 instar?)and she had 9 for breakfast in about 2 minutes flat. I think if I put the tub in she'd have a good go at eating them all. . Thanks for the info, feel abit happier..............more crix coming up.

i've had them actually eat directly from a bowl like an iguana...chowing down. they grow like insects. also, i noticed that good gut loaded crikets are more satisfying and they tend to eat less. many crickets are starving or fed empty calories at shops. always gut load feeders beforehand.
