How long have you been incubating or since it hatched?
Im still waiting for my 2 to hatch, when I candled them long ways the other day there was a dark splodge, did it the other way and clear.
Try doing it through the other way and see if there is still a splodge.

Goodluck!

There is absolutely no doubt when an egg is fertile. leave it another week, you'll see a pink blob and blue veins.
Black isnt really good, but you could just have poor eyesight or bad light..
Remember not to rotate the egg, otherwise it will most likely never hatch..

with eggs i have i always candled them once laid and if they are fertile i put them with the veins facing to the top in the incubator and if not i put them in anyway just in case, lizards do lay eggs at different intervals, sometimes a newly laid egg can have a good collection of veins and even a embryo starting and sometimes an egg will only just have a very small just about visible vain. it all depends on how long the female holds onto them for.
once the egg has a position its incubating in don't turn it at all and and once the embryo is at a certain stage it can be life threatening to the embryo to candle it, the bright light and movement can make the new baby tear delicate blood vessels.

i have never hatched crestys but i would imagine its the same .

the dark splodge you can see freegeeky very well could be a baby starting to develop
