Exclamation MBD? Or Something Else?

I got my Frilled Dragons from a family friend, they wasnt the best treated.
No source of water, i got them in november and the newspaper used for substrate was from early june, fed TWICE a week, chased with plastic snakes to get them to frill etc, tiny enclosure etc.

the list goes on.

so i agreed to have them,
the male was a little underweight but now is fine, however a little scared around anyone that isnt me.

however, the female..her back legs are paralised and deformed i will try and get pictures on the end of this post, but the guy claims she was like this when he purchased her and it hasnt changed since he has owned her.

i dont want to call him a liar, but i find that a little hard to believe, he isnt the kind of person that would buy a 'disabled' lizard just to care for it, he buys his animals to show off and not actually care for them properly.

so until i can get her to a decent vet.

could you tell me if it looks like MBD or something else?

and if/how i can possibly make it better?

she doesnt seem to be in any pain, but i cant be 100% sure, she finds it difficult to walk and climb because of it.

Hi, looks like MBD is a possibility, especially as the toe looks broken/dislocated?? Did it have UV/Supplements?

I don't know anything about frillies really, but has she been bred, or is she old enough to breed? Producing eggs can deplete calcium levels and cause problems. Any chance of egg binding?? - believe that can cause paralysis?

There are a couple of products you may find useful:
Bone-Aid - comes in form of drops
Zoocal-D - you mix it up in their water.
The Livefoods.co.uk web site has a description of them.

However, its hard to tell from the pic. A photo of the whole dragon may give a better idea if poss??

Definitely right to get her checked out ASAP by a vet though.

Hope everything goes ok

RedGex: They had UV but no suppliments, but they are now that i have them, she hasnt been bred but she is roughly 2 and a half? i highly doubt egg binding, but i wont know until i have taken her to the vets. i will try and get a picture up ASAP

Jess_Peter: Im 99% sure its not impaction, she was kept on newspaper, that cant cause impaction as far as i am aware?

thanks for your help

well that cant but if its the same as with bearded dragons then it could be from too large food item... but i doubt if it was impaction it would last so long!!

If it's a possibility for you, if it's MBD she's got I'd advise getting a Mega-ray bulb they're great for helping with this kind of thing. The poor little sweetheart we'll keep our fingers crossed for her, good luck
Here's a link for more info about Mega-ray bulbs and their help with MBD

as long as you have a decent source of uv, use it corectly [ie pretty close to basking area or other where frilly spends a lot of time] and the corect calcium and multivitamin supplement [inc d3] it will do what it can and only to a certain extent can any damage that is done already, be undone.
