Think your best taking him to a vet to be honest, the end of the tail looks pretty necrotic to me and may need some of it trimming back surgically. You have to be careful not to let infection track up the tail.

it seems odd that you rescue him and make reference to him not having any calcium before and now you are only dosing him twice a week.
As already said, and what i was trying to establish what your doing before i say..
Its advised to dust a beardies food with calcium dust 4-5 times a week... and then a multivits liek nutrobol 1-2 a week.

As it stands..if you are only duting twice a week with nutrobol and not atall with pure calcium then you arent doing him much of a favour.

Also, im pretty sure the tail should be looked at by a vet, all part of the "rescue" thing really.

Good luck.

I use Gatehouse Vets in Lavister - one of the vets there is a reptile specialist, and works with Chester Zoo. Phone number is 01244 570364.

Looking at it, he needs to see a vet asap - there is a very strong chance of gangrene/septicaemia with a would like that, particularly as it's turning black. The bone (??) sticking out of the end will be a haven for pathogens, and washing actually does very little except move the pathogens around.

If the wound has scabbed over, then washing will dissolve the body's natural physical defence (the scab itself), and wash bacteria into the newly-opened wound. He needs veterinary treatment to remove the protruding part, close the wound properly, and give him a supporting antibiotic and possibly a steroid to boost recovery.
