howdy pal, ive got a baby to, ive got lots ready to hatch so im in for some fun...... anyways i use soft things like artificial moss or i place toilet paper in the bottom, kitchen roll is good as well, ive used these for years and have never encounted any problems.... small artificial plants thats soft are good placed strategically so if he falls he should get a soft landing... i will say this chameleons often jump or fall off branches if theyre scared, and they are quite hard as they flatten themselves out if they know theyre going to fall... you should be ok buddy, man my mellors has dropped best part of 7 foot to the floor and he`s fine and dandy, just made a large hiss and got up as if nowt had happend.... lol.... take care pal and hope i helped you....

They're a lot hardier than they appear. Kitchen roll is great as a substrate, and you can fold it to give a bit of 'bounce'
A lot of greenery at different levels is always good, cos they often catch themselves on teh way down.
