Hi,
I would expect most people here would recommend putting an 08 Royal in a small RUB. In regards to heating, a heat matt is fine when its younger but from the age of around 2yrs should really be using a ceramic. This is due to the belief that beyond those years heat mats on heavier royals can lead to the increased possibility of RI. What I like to do, though it does prove to be initially expensive, is to get the final sized viv Ie. 3ft put the ceramic in etc. Then stick a faunarium or rub inside the viv. At least then all you need to do when older is take it out the rub. Its each to their own though ![]() Cheers, Jonny. |

I got my first CB07 royal as an 8 week old hatchling.
I put him striaght in to a 2ft viv, Orchid bark as substrate and a 60W red basking bulb on a microclimate dimer stat for heating. A hide at both ends and a water bowl in the cooler end of the viv, in the middle there was a large-ish log, a fake plant and finally some climbing branches as younger royals love to climb. He took his first feed on day two, and has fed every week without fail (except when shedding) since. But as the man above says, everyone does it different. |
