Default Help!! feeding BD

Hello.
got a few problems with my BD's at the moment and i needed some advice on what i can do.
i have 2 BD's about 7 months old and have only just recently found out they were both male, so once i had enough money, i bought another viv and seperated them. they were charging each other all the time and 1 of them wasnt getting enough of the food so he is tiny in comparison to the more dominant 1.
anyway, so i seperated them and thought everything would be ok and now, it seems like neither are eating, hunting or anything.
ive double checked the temps and they seem ok, the only things i have changed was the substrate, i changed from calci sand as i read it was dangerous and put them on kiln dried sand as they were already used to soft substrate. i also stopped using the heat mat as im only going to use it if overnight temps get too low.
thing is, i started giving them a couple of waxworms a week and now the small one, recognises the yellow box and practiclly jumps out the viv when he sees it, but wont touch the crickets?? i tried feeding him that to see if it was all food he was rejecting, i wont be feeding them those again.
im a bit worried about both of them as neither are eating at all, but the smaller 1 in particular as i have only seen him eat 1 medium cricket in days. also obviously no poo as well.
any help would be much appreciated.

i have heard that with most reptiles once they get a taste for waxies they never wanna eat anything else, one of my salamanders has done that and im in a similar position. not sure what to do, but im gonna just offer everything but waxies and she will have to eat them at some point, but of course i wouldnt know what to do if it went on for a few weeks, its such a tough one. they will eat waxies, but its like feeding a baby ice-cream for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

Most newly bought reptiles sometimes go off food for a while for different reasons, could be stress, could be bordom of same food, could even be to annoy the owner!

Good luck

Hi,
i seperated them on sat, so i half thought it was stress of moving to a new viv without each other, the only thing was the smaller 1 was barely eating for a week or so before that. 1 of the reasons i had to seperate them, other Beardie was gobbling everything! now both not really eating??
i thought exactly like you guys....eventually they'll have to eat wont they?? dont wanna rely on that though cos i feel guilty! think they are just trying to annoy me!!
going to buy some locusts, used to like them, mix it up a bit as well as crickets and see if eat veg again today??
anyone else had any problems like this?
thanks for help.

Yup, if you only moved them on sat it usually takes about a week or so to settle in (sometimes 2 weeks it just depends how stressed out they were from it), and if you think the smaller one is getting any worse a vet trip wouldnt be the worst thing for him.
Good luck

Good luck

The larger of the 2 had 5 crickets yesterday so i was happy with that, but no veg at all.
I put the same amount of smaller size in with little 1 and he didnt eat any of them or any veg.
I bought some locusts this morning to see if he goes for them, he liked them quite a bit.
I think you're right, if he still isnt eating by next week, i'll have to take him down the vet.
most of the day he's quite active, but then towards evening he just lays in corner and almost falls asleep before lights are off??
really quite worried. dont know what else i can do though!
thanks
