Default BD and veg!!

Ok, so Gizmo is a female beardie, and is about 9 months. For a few months the only way she would eat veg would be off my finger, i humored her thinking she would eventually grow out of it, but now she just wont eat any veg at all!!

I offer red pepper, yellow pepper, kale, collered greens, buternut squash, peas, some fruits but no, nothing!!

I took the pet shops advice and didn't giver her any locust, hoping that she would get hungry and give in, but she went 5 days with no food!!

Now im pulling my hair out! any ideas on how to get a stubburn BD to eat some veg??

you could try parsley or watercress, ours love it. we tend to feed greens on a morning when they are hungry, then insects later in the day. works for us!

i used to know a beardy like that... we put her in with another beardy that eats its veg and as soon as she saw the other beardy eating it she was straight on it..

also not the best stuff in the world for them but have you tried cos / romaine leattuce? mine go absolutley crackers for it..

Try dandelion leaves and the yellow flower heads my BD loves them!! just be careful not to get them from near any farmed land as they could have been sprayed with chemicals! Good old spring greens always go down pretty well too, And i read on here somewhere that some BD's like clover!! Good luck

Personally I wouldn't worry too much about a beardie that's only 9 months old; it's not usually until they are 12-18 months and hitting 400g+ that I'd start to think about starving them to get them eating veg. Until he hits around 400g, he's still going to be growing, and will need a lot of protein etc from his livefood. It's nice if he also eats some veg, so make sure to leave some in with him, but it's not as crucial as when he's an adult.

Try Romaine lettuce and Watercress; most beardies will be too tempted by them to refuse...
